Ho Hema is an initiative rooted in wellness, fostering positive mental health practices in local communities. Born during the pandemic, a time of isolation, uncertainty, and struggle, its mission responds to the pressures of contemporary life, offering holistic practices like responsive drawing, writing, auditory release and free movement in natural spaces.

The phrase Ho Hema means “to breathe” in Sesotho, a call to reconnect with the rhythms of life and the natural world. In an era defined by the Anthropocene, where humanity often drifts from nature, Ho Hema encourages a return to natural spaces, a mindful pause to simply breathe. This movement envisions a respectful and enriching relationship between humans and the environment, where neither exists as separate from the other. Every photograph and film created for the brand aligns with this vision, capturing serenity and grounding amidst the noise of modernity, offering visual pathways to release, pause, and inhabit the present.

Through art direction, I shaped the visual identity of Ho Hema, crafting imagery that mirrors the brand’s lush and natural essence. Each frame seeks to evoke calm, illustrating the ways humans can reconnect with the world around them and rediscover the simplicity and necessity of breathing deeply.
